As Babbel embarks on an exciting new stage of its development, the Legal Department is looking for a US trained Legal Counsel to join us in Berlin.
As a Commercial Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our business teams by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. You will provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders while helping to identify and mitigate legal risks.
You will:
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements including service agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, licensing agreements, and partnership arrangements
- Advise business teams on legal implications of commercial decisions and operations
- Support the development and implementation of contract templates and playbooks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance across the organization
- Assist with due diligence for potential business partnerships and transactions
- Help identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks
- Stay current on relevant legal developments and industry trends
You have:
- A law degree (and admission to practice)
- 3+ years of experience in commercial law, preferably in-house or at a law firm with corporate clients
- Strong understanding of contract law and commercial transactions
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
- Experience in tech or start-up industry preferred but not required
- A sense of humor, common sense and a good team spirit
- Fluency in English (oral and written); German is a plus
