We are looking for a highly experienced and communicative Lead Agile IT Transformation Expert (Freelance) to support the Project and Portfolio Management leadership team of our customer in driving a company-wide agile transformation during an ongoig Carve-out. The role combines strategic responsibility, coaching, and organizational development to prepare the IT organization for its role as a true business co-creator.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in agile IT transformation at scale, portfolio management, and IT organization development, combined with excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Duration: 12–18 months
Location: Remote, with limited onsite workshops in Germany
Language: English (fluent), German, Romanian or Portuguese a plus

Tasks

Partner with customers IT leadership in designing and evolving the Target Operating Model for IT as a business co-creator
Support the development of portfolio management processes (strategic workshops, analysis, maturity assessments, etc.)
Prepare and facilitate quarterly organizational development meetings with IT management to define new processes, models, and roadmaps
Guide and mentor Department Agile Coaches, ensuring consistency and quality across departments
Provide strategic input on process and model development, approvals, and implementation approaches
Act as a communication and alignment bridge between management, department leadership, and agile coaches
Ensure sustainable adoption of agile practices, tools (Jira, Confluence), and mindset shifts across departments

Requirements

8+ years of experience in agile IT transformation projects
Strong background in IT portfolio management and organizational development
Proven ability to guide and mentor senior agile coaches and department leaders
Strong facilitation skills for management-level workshops and strategic alignment sessions
Excellent communication, empathy, and leadership skills
Experience with scaled agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, or similar) desirable
