Tasks

Collect, analyze and interpret information from peer-reviewed scientific journals and publicly accessible databases with biomedical content to enhance data processing strategies.
Collaborate in gathering and processing clinical data, specifically focusing on histopathology images such as Whole Slide Images (WSI), complemented by high-throughput sequencing data.
Develop and maintain data quality check pipelines. Harmonize data from various sources ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Maintain a comprehensive database to support advanced data mining activities, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for the team.
Harmonize datasets of various origins, including imaging and sequencing data, by applying appropriate statistical and bioinformatics techniques.
Assist in the preparation of reports and the extraction of data as needed.
Identify and troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and reliability. Authorize and oversee the implementation of necessary data maintenance or modifications.
Initiate and take a leading position in data-driven biomedical research projects
Work closely with bioinformaticians and AI specialists. Convey complex data concepts in English

Requirements

Master's degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a similar field
Proficient in scientific programming languages Python, R & Shell script as well as frameworks to analyze biomedical images. (PyTorch, OpenCV)
Knowledge of database architecture and development is highly desirable.
Knowledge of pipeline/workflow languages is a plus. (Nextflow)
Experience in High Performance Computing environments such as SLURM, LSF and PBS.
Have a keen understanding of the sources and implications of bias in data.
Strong analytical skills, especially in statistics
Proficiency in handling biomedical data, especially imaging data, knowledge on array- and sequence data is a plus.
Very good English communication skills, German is a plus
