We are looking for a smart, enthusiastic Field Support Tech to join us in transforming an industry. In this position you will take direction from the Customer Support Manager to support Motiv's products, including vehicles and individual components. You will be supported by Motiv's engineering team, however, you are expected to develop expertise in the operation and debugging of Motiv's ePCS components to independently provide top quality support in the field.
The role is customer facing, so solid customer service skills combined with exceptional 'hands on' technical ability are necessary attributes. This position is located in the Greater Detroit, MI area, where you will have primary responsibility for servicing Motiv Powered drivetrains. Communication is highly important - excellent oral and written communication skills required. Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge of: methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles. Operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand power tools, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment
Understand the complete vehicle at a systemic and component level in order to effectively and efficiently diagnose and repair
Perform field support activities (maintenance, upgrades, and/or retrofits) for all Motiv vehicles
Diagnose vehicle issues, repair, and provide root cause analysis
Utilize remote monitoring system data for troubleshooting, periodic log reviews, and to identify possible performance related concerns as well as to study vehicle utilization
Accurately record all support activities in the support records keeping system
Communicate directly with customers and third-party service providers to aid in diagnosis or issue escalation and promote the most efficient repair scenario
Represent Motiv in the utmost professional manner
Perform vehicle pre-delivery inspections
Deliver customer driver and maintenance training in addition to technical support for sales and marketing efforts
Provide a secure remote location for tools, parts, and other necessary items
Travel as required (up to 30%) for initial training and to ensure Support Team goals and customer requirements are met
Requirements:
Associates degree or 3-5 years equivalent experience working with relevant technologies
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer service
Analytical approach to problem solving
Ability to handle many functions at one time and adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules
Ability to set and prioritize goals and achieve them per a schedule
Ability to execute and follow through on instructions given by supervisor
Creative and analytical problem-solving skills
Knowledge of computer word processing systems
Ability to articulate clearly when writing including composition, spelling and punctuation
Expect up to 30% travel to other regions
Additional Desired Skills:
Extensive experience with 12 volt and automotive wiring systems
Knowledge of high voltage AC and DC electricity
Experience with light to medium duty commercial vehicles
Knowledge of electronic components, computer hardware and software, and testing equipment
Experience with Controller Area Networks (CAN)
Having and maintaining a CDL with Full Air Brakes with a passenger endorsement is a plus
