Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive the transition of video processing pipelines into a unified C++ core, ensuring portability, scalability, and top-tier performance. Accountabilities:
- Design and implement low-level C++ components for video decoding, synchronization, and adaptive playback.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to transition pre-render video logic from native frameworks (e.g., AVFoundation, ExoPlayer) into a shared cross-platform core.
- Debug complex performance issues across different operating systems, device types, and networks.
- Optimize the audiovisual (AV) stack to enhance playback consistency, reduce latency, and expand device compatibility.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and API designs supporting high-quality video experiences.
- Actively participate in technical discussions, documentation, and presentations to share knowledge and align strategies.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership, helping raise standards across engineering teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in video playback systems, transcoding, streaming, and adaptive bitrate technologies.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and familiarity with Swift and/or Kotlin for mobile environments.
- Deep knowledge of decoding, synchronization, and frame-level control.
- Experience with video frameworks such as VideoToolbox, MediaCodec, or AVFoundation, and a strong interest in generalizing these into portable C++ solutions.
- Expertise in streaming protocols, video delivery systems, and low-level performance optimization.
- Passion for creating scalable, efficient systems that deliver world-class video quality to massive audiences.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams in EMEA time zones.
