We are looking for a Fullstack Engineer, 1-year contract to join our Berlin office!
As a Fullstack Engineer, your mission will be to shape the future of language learning in a flexible and stimulating environment. You’ll collaborate with motivated colleagues, dive into different disciplines, broaden your expertise, and share your knowledge.
We are at the heart of Babbel, developing the learning content architecture and the tools our editors use to create engaging learning experiences. Our topics include event-driven microservice architectures, content modeling, content delivery, and CMS customization. Our primary stack: TypeScript and Node.js.
You will:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deliver robust, scalable applications
- Partner with our content editors to bring their vision to life

- Contribute to our culture of testing, learning, and innovation
- Engage in pair programming, code reviews, and discussions to foster collaboration and growth
You have:
- Proven experience in aligning technical strategies with business goals and delivering projects on time
- A strong sense for good API design and experience with Typescript, Node.js, React
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Willingness to learn new things and step outside your comfort zone
- Experience in testing and ensuring high standards of quality
- Experience with monitoring system health and performance
- A product-focused mindset and a sense of accountability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Nice to have:
- Experience with Golang or Ruby on Rails
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience with event-driven, distributed architecture
- Experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, Kinesis)
