We're looking for a DevEx Engineer to drive how we build, ship, and run software. This role focuses on making engineering teams faster, more reliable, and better supported through strong infrastructure, smart tooling, and better developer workflows. You'll combine SRE practices, infrastructure design, and a product mindset to improve our engineering systems and culture.
Note: We know this is a wide scope. This role is our starting point for investing in the full DevEx stack. The team will grow, and we don’t expect one person to carry all of this long-term. But if you’re excited by the mission and can drive change across some of these areas, we’d love to talk.
Tasks
- DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, MTTR) are your bread and butter that you’ll use to identify bottlenecks and lead improvements across the SDLC to move the right metrics
- Enable self-service deployment, testing and observability workflows
- Lead reliability initiatives and system hardening efforts
- Improve on-call experience with better tooling and clear processes
- Support engineering teams during incidents, ensuring smooth communication and technical guidance
- Design, maintain, and improve our K8s-based infrastructure
- Investigate and implement deployment strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary, shadow) that fit our systems and org size
- Work closely with teams to define safe rollout patterns and rollback processes
- Maintain and evolve cloud infrastructure on GCP
- Own CI/CD pipelines and platform services used across teams
- Ensure stability, scalability, and security of shared infrastructure
- Research and recommend developer tools that match real needs and workflows
Requirements
- 5+ years in roles like SRE, DevOps or platform engineering
- Strong experience with Kubernetes(design and debugging in production)
- Solid knowledge of GCP infrastructure and core services (GKE, IAM, CloudSQL, Pub/Sub, etc.)
- Proficiency in IaC
- Deep understanding of CI/CD systems and deployment pipelines
- Programming experience in Java, although Kotlin is preferred(we just assume the candidate already does Go), ideally with production-grade services or tooling
- Familiarity with DORA metrics and how to measure/drive developer productivity
- Strong debugging and incident response skills across infrastructure and application layers
- Good communication skills, you can work with engineers, PMs, and leadership to surface trade-offs and align on priorities
Nice-to-Haves
- GitOps workflows
- Experience rolling out or managing developer platforms or internal tooling portals
- Familiarity with canary deployments, blue/green, feature flags, and other rollout strategies
- Exposure to observability stacks
- Background in software engineering (you understand SDLC firsthand)
- Experience evaluating and rolling out third-party tools for developer experience
Mindset
- Curious and systems-oriented, you look for root causes and sustainable solutions
- Pragmatic, you ship improvements incrementally, not perfectly
- Comfortable with ambiguity and scope shaping
- Focused on impact, whether through tooling, automation, or reducing cognitive load
