SEO Lead

Organic traffic is a vital acquisition channel and a significant contributor to our total web sales. We're looking for an SEO Lead to elevate this channel and drive our next phase of growth. Your primary mission will be to reverse recent downward trends and establish organic growth as a central pillar of success across our key products: Business Account, Tap to Pay, and the SumUp SuperApp.
What you'll do
You will take complete ownership of our organic customer acquisition and activation efforts across Europe, leading a high-performing team and driving innovation.
- Define & Own SEO Strategy: Implement and optimise a robust SEO strategy to significantly increase organic traffic and drive sales across SumUp's multi-product portfolio. This includes improving search rankings on traditional search Engines and emerging AI platforms.
- Set & Achieve Goals: Define key optimisation areas for our organic approach, setting clear, accountable targets that align directly with broader business goals across each business unit.
- Ensure Cross-Functional Alignment: Seamlessly align SEO efforts with paid search, social media, and other marketing initiatives, including brand, to create a cohesive growth strategy.
- Drive Growth Hacking: Formulate hypotheses and rigorously experiment with new formats (e.g., leveraging creative platforms like TikTok and forums for organic traffic, lead capturing) and strategies to accelerate growth.
- Cultivate Experimentation: Develop a vision for driving product-led growth through experimentation, using scientific methods and creative approaches to achieve step-changes in acquisition and conversion (e.g., A/B tests).
- Data-Driven Iteration: Continuously refine and improve growth strategies by utilising data to gain actionable insights and implementing a test-and-learn methodology.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of SEO specialists (content, technical, off-page), fostering their growth. You'll guide their expertise across all SEO pillars: from data-driven content roadmaps and thought leadership to advanced technical audits, site optimisation (including ASO), and building impactful local off-page strategies.
You'll be great for this position if
- You have 8+ years of experience, preferably in FinTech or B2B SaaS, with a proven track record of leading teams, developing successful organic growth strategies, and owning a long-term vision
- You are highly analytical with a strong affinity for numbers, comfortable with quantitative analysis and data-driven decision-making.
- You have experience in developing and implementing effective SEO strategies across all pillars (on-page, off-page, technical), with knowledge of how AI/ML and emerging technologies can enhance SEO and marketing automation.
- You are proficient in utilising SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar tools for data-driven decisions.
- You're adept at driving growth through innovation, utilising a test-and-learn approach, and bringing fresh, out-of-the-box thinking to challenges.
- You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, can adjust strategies to shifting market conditions, and possess excellent collaboration skills, working effectively within teams.
