    Engineering Manager (f/m/d)

    As Engineering Manager at FinCompare, you will be the bridge between Business and Engineering playing a key role in the company's success trio of Lead Engineer, Product Manager and Business Domain Expert. In tight collaboration with other leaders, engineers, and stakeholders, you focus on developing our technical capabilities that achieve great feature development, productivity, system health, and team health.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • 50/50 people management and hands-on coding
    • Mentor and help your team of 4 engineers grow by identifying their strengths, reviewing their work, doing pair programming, and giving actionable advice and constructive feedback
    • Be a role model for good code quality, good engineering and architecture practices
    • Plan and drive Tech OKRs, KPIs, and metrics, and help your team become more data-driven
    • Contribute to the existing GoLang codebase and help accelerate the team on the path to a more loosely coupled system architecture to ensure higher productivity and reliability of the platform
    • Contribute to the implementation of the DDD approach to create a bridge between Tech and Business
    • Help implement Fitness-Function-driven development within your team
    • Work closely with the PM, who is your counterpart, and represent the technical side in discussions or Event Storming sessions with the business side
    • Follow RACI when making technical decisions together with your team as well as business stakeholders

    Your Profile

    • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience leading a cross-functional team
    • 2+ years of production experience with GoLang
    • You have experience with distributed systems and legacy software
    • You are a servant leader - your success is through the success of your team
    • You enjoy mentoring, guiding and helping your team grow by identifying their strengths
    • You have experience working with OKRs and can take responsibility for your team’s performance and the deliverables of quarterly goals
    • “You build it, you run it” mindset, you’re not afraid of taking ownership, and will empower your team to do the same

    • Teams: 3 cross-functional Product-Engineering, Platform, Data, Enabling & Support
    • 1 Python monolith in Django and 14 Golang services in the Backend
    • TypeScript, React in the Frontend
    • REST, gRPC for inter-service communication
    • Terraform and AWS services
    • Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry via Jaeger, Sentry.io
    • Containerised software on k8s (EKS) via ArgoCD and CrossPlane across various cluster environments
    • Fully automated CI/CD using Github actions and GitOps approach
    • Unit-Tests, Selenium WebDriver, and integration/API tests (Gherkin-based)
    • GitHub, Slack, Atlassian Jira, and Confluence
