We are looking for an exceptional individual to join ExoMatter as a Python Developer. In this role, you will build and maintain the systems that power our Materials R&D platform.

Tasks

As a Python Developer, you will be responsible for building upon our existing materials science computing platform setting the direction of its future growth. You will work in our small but growing development team, alongside our team of materials scientists, to design and implement solutions for scientific computing. Knowledge about Materials Science is not required

You will build new features, and maintain and improve existing features, in both our existing computational science platform and our internal R&D tools
Work with our material scientists to fine-tune our computations for maximum performance
Design and Implement engineering best practices for our Python development
Work with our Devops team to design and implement CI/CD pipelines, and to design smart scaling strategies for our heavy computation needs

Requirements

You hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field
You have 4+ years relevant professional experience with Python, including developing and deploying complex applications and developing web-applications
Ability to work autonomously and self-manage
Fluent in spoken and written English, German skills are a plus
Experience working in computational science (Quantum Espresso and LAMMPS) or ML (scikit-learn) is a plus, as is working with working with customer-facing web-applications, Javascript, or Ruby on Rails
Experience in a startup is a plus
You live in Munich or want to move to Munich within 3-4 months and are then willing to work ca. 50% of your time on-site
