Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Big Data - Hybrid position in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and expertise to teams that build stream processors and use kafka to process and propagate data throughout the company
- Collaborate with our data engineering teams on our Cloud big data footprint e.g. BigQuery in Google Cloud
- Help our software engineering and data teams to deploy and manage their data pipelines on Google Cloud
- Be part of our fully paid “on-call” rotation
- Collaborate with our product teams by providing reliable RDBMS and streaming solutions
- Provide architectural guidance e.g. schemas, sharding, replication, CDC etc., which influence design for reliability, scalability and performance
- Improve the reliability, stability, and efficiency of our our streaming system
- Debug issues in production across multiple levels of the stack
- Contribute to runbooks, documentation, and our company’s technical blog
Requirements
- At least 4 years' experience in a Site Reliability Engineering/Platform Engineering/DevOps role or similar
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of network protocols and database operations
- Experience with Kubernetes and GCP cloud both as an admin and user
- Previous software development experience in one of: Python, Golang, Rust, Java or any other modern programming language
- Extensive knowledge of Kafka, relational databases, file systems and Linux
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Thano, and experience using Github Actions
- Proficiency in building CI and CD pipelines
- Experience working with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
