As part of the risk management function, this team is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing all types of risks. The role focuses on operational risk management for a major life insurance group and its subsidiaries.
The team are specialists in non-financial risks and oversee the internal control system. Operational risks can significantly harm a company’s reputation and, in extreme cases, threaten its existence.
Managing non-financial risks has become increasingly important in recent years. The position offers a dynamic and varied environment with many internal and external interfaces.
Job Description
• Proactive risk management by monitoring key business processes and internal controls, and identifying emerging risks.
• Strategic leadership and input into transformative projects.
• Close collaboration with central functions and process owners to promote a risk-aware culture and strengthen internal controls.
• Effective representation and presentation to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., business owners, internal audit, external auditors, regulators).
• Preparing decision briefs, presentations, and analyses for senior management.
• Enhancing processes and methods for managing operational risks.
Requirements/Skills/Experience
• Several years of experience in risk management, auditing, consulting, or similar roles with hands-on knowledge in designing and implementing risk management strategies.
• Degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, especially with complex issues.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Fluent in German and English.
