    We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-moving software team building the next generation of robotic applications. In this role, you will design and develop backend systems that enable advanced robot functionalities and seamless integration with external platforms. Your APIs will serve as the backbone for collaboration with technology partners, empowering customers to access holistic robotic inspection solutions. You’ll work closely with robotics engineers, designers, and product teams to create scalable systems, enhance performance, and deliver user-focused features. This is a fully remote role within the EU, offering the chance to shape cutting-edge robotics software while collaborating with a talented global team.

    Accountabilities

    • Design, extend, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs for internal and external use.
    • Implement backend changes to enhance the main GUI (Workforce) and enable end-to-end inspection workflows.
    • Develop foundational systems to support robust and efficient web development.
    • Debug, test, and validate applications in simulations, on-site, and directly on robots in the field.
    • Advocate for and integrate third-party web frameworks and technologies to improve development outcomes.
    • Collaborate with external partners to evaluate, integrate, and test their solutions.
    • Participate in planning, organizing, and tracking team objectives and tasks.
    • Write clean, testable code and produce clear technical documentation.
    • Serve as an example of effective and well-coordinated remote work practices.

    Requirements

    • Degree in computer science, robotics, or a related technical field.
    • Proven experience building maintainable APIs that enable seamless user experiences and successful products.
    • Strong skills in TypeScript, and experience working with multiple languages (Python, C++).
    • Skilled in leveraging modern web frameworks to build scalable backend systems.
    • Strong interface-driven thinking, able to design consistent and maintainable APIs.
    • User-centric mindset, comfortable collaborating with designers, product managers, and frontend developers.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in remote environments.
    • Experience with testing, debugging, monitoring, and improving backend systems.
    • Ability to manage workload independently, delivering quality results remotely.
    • Up to date with modern web and cloud technologies, frameworks, and practices.
    • Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Open to learning and contributing outside core expertise (e.g. resource-constrained systems, sensor data processing).
    • Willingness to travel 2–3 weeks per year to collaborate on-site with team members and users.
    • Bonus: experience with NestJS, MQTT, SAP API integration, or frontend development.
