As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining reliable and scalable backend systems that power critical applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, frontend engineers, and other backend developers to deliver high-impact features. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, influence system architecture, and drive continuous improvements in performance and processes. Accountabilities

Design, implement, and maintain robust backend systems using PHP and Laravel.
Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and other backend engineers to deliver impactful features.
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
Identify and drive improvements in system architecture, performance, and internal processes.
Troubleshoot complex technical challenges with a structured, analytical approach.
Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing development speed with long-term maintainability.
Ensure backend solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business requirements.

Requirements

Proven experience as a backend engineer, with deep expertise in PHP and Laravel.
Strong track record of building scalable web applications and APIs.
Analytical and pragmatic problem-solving approach to technical challenges.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Experience mentoring and guiding teammates to help them grow professionally.
Ability to deliver technically excellent solutions while considering practical business needs.
Familiarity with best practices in backend architecture, testing, and deployment.

Experience in remote-first or distributed team environments.
