Jobs in Germany
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Flight Dynamics Software Engineer in Germany.
This is a high-impact role where you will develop and optimize advanced software systems for space missions, combining expertise in flight dynamics, astrodynamics, and spacecraft operations. You will lead the design and implementation of mission-critical algorithms, work closely with satellite operators, and integrate complex systems for seamless operation. Beyond coding, you will provide technical leadership, contribute to strategic roadmaps, and participate in initiatives such as space sustainability and space traffic management. The role offers exposure to both commercial and institutional partners, including space agencies, and a collaborative environment that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
Accountabilities:
· Lead end-to-end development of Flight Dynamics Systems (FDS), including orbit determination, maneuver planning, and trajectory optimization.
· Integrate FDS with Mission Control Systems (MCS) to ensure mission-critical interoperability and performance.
· Collaborate with satellite operators to gather operational requirements and translate them into actionable system capabilities.
· Design and implement high-precision algorithms for orbit propagation, attitude dynamics, and collision avoidance.
· Develop and maintain production-grade software using modern engineering practices (CI/CD, version control, testing).
· Conduct verification and validation campaigns with real-world datasets and operational scenarios.
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team and contribute to strategic mission planning initiatives.
· Support mission preparation and execution, providing expert guidance to ensure successful operations.
Requirements
· M.Sc. or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, or a related field.
· 5+ years of experience in flight dynamics, mission control, SSA/SST, or space software development and operations.
· Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and spacecraft operations.
· Proficiency in compiled and high-level programming languages (Python, Java, C++, Fortran, or similar).
· Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and deliver high-quality software collaboratively.
· Experience working directly with satellite operators or on operational satellite missions.
· Based in Germany with occasional travel to main offices; valid EU work authorization.
· Experience collaborating with international, fully or partially remote teams.
Nice-to-have:
· Experience with SSA/SST systems, sensor fusion, or catalog maintenance.
· Experience with space agencies or institutional missions (ESA, DLR).
· Familiarity with ground segment software, mission planning tools, telemetry/telecommand workflows.
· Knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and cloud-based deployments.
Benefits
· Flexible working hours and autonomy in your approach to work.
· Opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking space sustainability projects.
· Technical freedom to influence system architecture, algorithms, and data integration strategies.
· Professional growth with access to training budgets, conferences, and networking opportunities.
· Strong engineering culture with knowledge-sharing sessions, technical deep dives, and innovation sprints.
· Team-building activities and company-wide events fostering collaboration and camaraderie.
