About the Role:
The job is for a Lead Data Center Technician in Berlin. The role involves overseeing workflows, troubleshooting anomalies, and finding opportunities to scale operations. The technician will collaborate with the Site Manager to mentor and develop the local team, communicate strategy and feedback, and work with cross-functional teams to enhance processes.
Tasks
Responsibilities:
- Act as the technical point of contact for site incidents, escalations, and retrofits.
- Lead a team of data center shift technicians to restore systems to production efficiently.
- Implement global standards and workflows at the local data center site, aligning with leadership vision.
- Mentor technicians to enable them to conduct daily operations with minimal supervision.
- Manage server upgrades, integration, and automated OS provisioning, while addressing network, hardware, and Linux OS issues.
- Drive process improvements, document best practices, and ensure operational excellence through metric achievement and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Possess exceptional server hardware knowledge and extensive experience in data center operations (8+ years).
- Capable of working autonomously or within dispersed teams and leading and mentoring technicians effectively.
- Proficient in conducting failure analysis, tracking server fleet health, and utilizing IPMI for diagnostics.
- Skilled in administering software tools, resolving real-time deployment issues, and managing Windows Server and WinPE OS.
- Experience in Linux PXE services, network troubleshooting, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is advantageous.
- Preference for candidates with CompTIA A+, Server+, CCENT certifications, and an associate degree in relevant fields.
- Ability to lift heavy loads, climb ladders safely, wear protective gear, and maintain productivity in a data center environment.
