Your role and your tasks:
As our Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/x), you will be a key contributor to bring our market-leading content platform to the next level for world-class retailers like MediaMarkt, Otto, and Fnac - and brands like Microsoft, Logitech, and Bosch.
Design and build cloud-native backend services in a microservices architecture (Node.js/TypeScript)
You will be planning and implementing AWS Lambda functions, containerized applications (ECS, K8s), asynchronous communication (SNS/SQS), REST APIs, and setting up monitoring and alerting of our critical infrastructure.
Take ownership of high-performance content delivery systems that handle 15+ billion monthly requests
Migrate legacy services to modern infrastructure, focusing on scalability, cost-efficiency, and CDN optimization (Cloudflare, AWS)
Collaborate with frontend, QA, and product teams to deliver new features and improve backend performance
Work closely with the CTO on system design, long-term architecture, and infrastructure decisions
Mentor developers, review code and architectural proposals, and promote engineering best practices
Ensure code quality, implement unit and integration tests, and contribute to well-documented systems (C4 modelling preferred)
Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and cross-team collaboration in an agile setup
