Tasks

What You'll Do

Serving as a Software Engineer and a core contributor to our founding team, you will heavily influence our technical strategy and architectural roadmap. You will assume complete, full-lifecycle accountability for the backend systems driving our applications, spanning every layer from early database schemas through API responses and observability dashboards.

End-to-end ownership: You will have complete accountability for every facet of the features you develop, spanning from database modeling and API design through to final deployment and system monitoring. You will constantly iterate on our architecture, guaranteeing that our Effect & TypeScript codebases remain highly robust, strictly type-safe, and highly maintainable.
Build complex logic, not just simple endpoints: Your focus will be on the rigorous backend engineering that drives our core platform. Rather than merely outputting basic CRUD operations, you will architect advanced authorization rules, AI pipelines, and asynchronous workflows required to resolve difficult user challenges.

Past examples of initiatives you might tackle:

Complex authorization engine constructed to manage the escalating intricacies of varying institutional settings by merging ReBac and ABAC methodologies
Complex AI pipelines built to pull visual and textual data out of documents, coordinating several models and embedding concepts directly into knowledge graphs
Migration of a legacy fullstack monolith into a fully typesafe API ecosystem built using Effect

Infrastructure: Cloudflare (Workers, Workflows, R2, KV, Hyperdrive), Google Cloud (Gemini, Cloud Run)
Tooling: Axiom, Sentry, PostHog, Langfuse, Stripe
AI: Vercel AI SDK

Requirements

What We're Looking For

2+ years of software engineering experience with strong TypeScript skills
Startup experience: You’re comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments
Balanced AI approach: You knew how to code before Cursor and Claude Code, but understand how to leverage them effectively
Product passion: High identification with our mission to transform education
Bonus: Experience with authz systems, infra/devops, AI, or frontend work (Next.js/React)
