Your mission
As Senior DevOps Engineer at VR Smart Guide you will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and managing the infrastructure that powers our digital solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The mission is to ensure smooth, scalable, and secure operations of our systems, with a focus on maintaining high availability and efficiency, while enabling fast, reliable delivery of new features.
Your role and contribution
- Infrastructure Management: Design and implement cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) for highly available, scalable, and secure services.
- Automation & CI/CD: Lead the automation of deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) to minimize downtime and enable frequent and reliable releases.
- Monitoring & Incident Management: Establish monitoring systems to ensure uptime, performance, and early detection of issues (e.g., using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack). Lead the incident response process and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to integrate DevOps principles into the software development lifecycle, enabling faster and more efficient feature delivery.
- Security: Implement security best practices including regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and security patches. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Device Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of end-user devices (e.g., laptops, workstations), ensuring proper security measures and software compliance.
- Cost Optimization: Monitor infrastructure costs and optimize resource usage to achieve cost-efficient operations.
Your profile
- 5+ years in a DevOps role, ideally in a fintech or startup environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Cloud Platforms: Proven experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud providers (Azure, GCP)
- CI/CD Pipelines: Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI)
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
- Containers & Orchestration: Expertise in container technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
- Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
- Security: Solid understanding of security best practices and compliance (ISO, GDPR)
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks
- Fluent in English
- Willing to travel occasionally to Berlin and/or Eschborn
