Founding Engineer

We are CoCrafter (YC W24), a Munich based start-up on the mission to revolutionize the collaboration processes in construction.

The construction industry is the backbone of the European economy but completely overlooked by digitization efforts. The result: inefficient processes and untapped potential.

Subcontracting is one of the most crucial processes in construction & no larger project can be realized without it. But due to the highly inefficient processes in subcontracting, contractors loose revenue and miss growth opportunities every day. This issue becomes even more pressing due to labor shortage.

CoCrafter is the answer: Our platform enables contractors to find and manage subcontractors effectively in one place. We bring transparency and quality in a highly fragmented market.

Supported by top-tier investors, we are already enabling some of the biggest construction companies to redefine their subcontracting processes.

Tasks

We're looking for a Founding Engineer to join our growing team. You will be one of the first engineers to join our team and build up our product in close collaboration with us founders. This hands-on role is perfect for a resourceful and adaptable individual who thrives in a startup environment and is passionate about developing innovative products. Your responsibilities will include:

• Techie at Heart: Be passionate about developing & implementing a diverse set of complex features while ensuring the delivery of scalable, maintainable, and performant software.
• System Design: Promote technical excellence, steer architectural decisions and implement engineering best practices.
• Product Mindset: Build a product with an exceptional user experience by always keeping our end-users in mind. Or with YC words: make something people want.
• Cross-functional Communication: Strong work ethic, team player, very good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
• Grow CoCrafter: Set-up processes, shape the organization, and hire high potential co-workers/team members

Requirements

We believe that problem-solving, creativity, and ambition are most important. Tools and technologies can be picked up. However, the following references will give a guideline of what experiences we think might be helpful.

• You are familiar with frontend libraries and frameworks such as React, Next and more
• You know your way around in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and have experience with TypeScript
• You used component libraries and extended your app with own components
• You have developed a RESTful API with frameworks and tools
• You have worked with Node frameworks and libraries in the backend such as Express or Nest
• You are familiar with object-oriented programming languages and domain driven design
• You are capable of setting up a PostgreSQL database, work with ORMs, and write database migrations
• You know how to deploy applications to cloud services such as Azure, GCP or AWS
• You are open to collaborate and learn together with other developers
• Your are fluent in German and/or English
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields
• A plus: You worked in an (early-stage) start-up before and know what it is like to join a fast-paced environment
